FileCheckSuspicious file

Before opening an attachment, see what it really is.

Drop the file: FileCheck shows its real type, the contents of an archive, known attack clues, and whether its fingerprint matches the publisher's. It never runs it.

Features

Type, contents, fingerprint.

01

The real type

Read from the first bytes, not from the name: an “invoice.pdf” that is really a program gets flagged.

02

The contents

File names inside a ZIP archive, hidden executables, encrypted archives, random-looking content and known attack keywords.

03

The fingerprint

Paste the fingerprint published by the vendor: FileCheck tells you whether your download matches.

What you get

One file, two languages.

  • filecheck.zip: the page in English and French, a read-me and the licence.
  • Opens in any recent browser, even offline.
  • No account, no installation, no data sent.
  • The version you buy and fixes to its bugs.
What it does not do

Honest limits.

  • It is not an antivirus. It gives clues; a well-made malicious file may show none.
  • “No clue” never means “safe”: when in doubt, ask the sender through another channel.
  • An archive is read by its names, not unpacked; FileCheck does not replace your system's protection.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the file opened or sent?

Neither. It is read as a sequence of bytes in your browser, never run, and the page forbids any connection.

What is the publisher's fingerprint for?

Many vendors publish the SHA-256 fingerprint of their files. If it matches, your download is exactly the file they published.

When can I buy it?
